Virtual Reality (VR) vs. Augmented Reality (AR) + Wonderscope

Hello guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I am going to compare Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality but before starting to talk about the differences and similarities between them, let's talk about them individually.

 What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual Reality (VR) is the technology to create a simulated artificial environment with the help of computer technology. Thanks to Virtual Reality, users can experience and interact with 3D worlds, instead of just seeing the computer screen. Virtual Reality simulates senses such as vision, touch, hearing, etc in an artificial world.

Why Should English Language Teachers Integrate VR In Their Classrooms?

* With the use of Virtual Reality, teachers can enhance their students learning and build engagement. This engagement can motivate students to learn more and grasp the information easily.
* Teachers can create a visual world for their students and allow them to not only see but also interact with the language content.
* Students learn best by doing; Virtual Reality in the classroom helps students to experience the instruction, discover the content themselves, and practice it. Instead of reading passively the textbooks, they can discover and practice English by doing.
* Virtual Reality in English language classes can make students engage in their learning by allowing them to express their emotions.
* Using Virtual Reality in language classes is useful not just for making students grasp the content, but it's also helpful to create interesting content for the language classrooms. Teachers can promote creativity in their classes.
* Also, VR is really helpful for visual learners in language classrooms. Instead of reading the content, students can learn the content by seeing it.
* VR experiences can promote collaboration in the classrooms. It creates an opportunity to make learning experiences social by allowing the peers to communicate with each other, use the language meaningfully, and express themselves in groups.
* Last but not least, VR can allow teachers to fill the gap between them and their students. In distance (online) education, with the help of VR, teachers, and students can be together in the same digital room with the representations of themselves and continue with their learning-teaching experiences.

What is Augmented Reality?

Augmented Reality (AR) is the technology that uses texts, images, video clips, sounds, 3D animations and brings them into real-world environments. Thanks to Augmented Reality, teachers can bring 3D artificial worlds into their real classroom environments. Teachers can enhance learning and create interesting content for their classes.
Like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality has similar positive effects on education that I have already mentioned.

Also, let's talk about my favorite Augmented Reality tool: Wonderscope!

What is Wonderscope?

Wonderscope is an application that uses Augmented Reality and makes children read stories by transforming ordinary places into extraordinary stories. This application can be very helpful to make younger learners feel motivated, engaged, and interested while reading stories and experiencing a 3D virtual world.

With Wonderscope, you can make your students have fun while learning English and reading stories in your classes. You can download Wonderscope on the App Store and get started.

For further information, you can check their website and watch this lovely video about Wonderscope: https://youtu.be/vqN3Rjv6nlk

What's the Difference Between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality?

Virtual Reality and Augmented can be seen as two sides of the same coin. Augmented Reality simulates artificial objects in the real world but Virtual Reality creates an artificial environment outside of the real world and it is limited to that artificial environment.
